About Petra Pinn:
Painting is my joy and my escape. I enjoy the spontaneity of applying paint in loose brushstrokes, the blending, the shaping, the glazing as well as the playfulness of decorative details. Getting lost in this process gives me joy that I hope is contagious. My studio is a shed in my backyard, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. I have always been fascinated by Australia’s beautiful nature and I am fortunate to let this inspire my artworks. The Australian birdlife, the rainforest, as well as portraits of people surrounded by nature, has been subject matter in many of my works. Beauty, colour, sunlight, travel and finding a little story somewhere is what drives me to create. I am attracted to the shapes and colour light creates. My training as a textile designer influences my use of pattern and colour.
